2:201 Give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and defend us from the torment of the Fire!

1 min read

And there are men who say: “Our Lord! Give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and defend us from the torment of the Fire!”

According to “Exposition of the Holy Quran”,

“You will find two kinds of people in the world: the sole aim in life of the first kind is to find prosperity in this world and they do not even think about the hereafter; the other kind, however, yearn not only for bliss in this world but also to protected from disaster in the hereafter. Both kinds shall have what they have worked for. According to Allah’s Law of Mulafat (retribution), each human action produces its result simultaneously although the latter may not be perceptible for some time.”

Narrated Anas:

The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say, “O Allah! Our Lord! Give us in this world that, which is good and in the Hereafter that, which is good and save us from the torment of the Fire.” (2.201)
