They said: “We only wish to eat thereof and satisfy our hearts, and to know that thou hast indeed told us the truth; and that we ourselves may be witnesses to the miracle.”
The disciples of Jesus sometimes questioned or doubted him and wanted to see miracles to reaffirm their faith. (For an example, see Mark 7:45-52.) As for his miracles, Jesus performed many miracles involving food, such as in turning water into wine (John 2:1-11), feeding a multitude with a basket of loaves and fish that never emptied (John 6:5-13) and helping fishermen pull in a huge harvest (Luke 5:4-11).
