The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper: (verse 8)
Those whose scale will be light, will be their souls in perdition, for that they wrongfully treated Our signs.
According to Ghulam Ahmad Pervez,
“The life and death of nations is determined by their own deeds. If a nation’s good deeds outweigh its ill deeds, it continues to prosper but if the opposite is the case, this will lead to its decline and fall. On the day of reckoning, the actions of all nations will be weighed and those whose good deeds outweigh the ill in the scale, will be deemed successful but those whose ill deeds outweigh the good will be the losers since they had disregarded Our messages (101: 7-8).” (Exposition of the Quran, pg. 227)
