33:52 The Prophet was forbidden to marry further after this injunction was revealed

1 min read

It is not lawful for thee (to marry more) women after this, nor to change them for (other) wives, even though their beauty attract thee, except any thy right hand should possess (as handmaidens): and Allah doth watch over all things.

This verse, which was revealed about seven years after the migration to Medina, forbade the Prophet from marrying any other free women, except for maidservants whom he could marry.  He married Maria the Copt, who was a gift from the ruler of Egypt, and she bore him a son named Ibrahim (who tragically died in infancy).
